Dr. Martin Slayne is the President and Founder of Slayne Consulting LLC, supporting organizations in the US and internationally, on food policy and strategy, science and regulatory, risk analysis, ingredient and product safety, multi-stakeholder communication, and advocacy with government authorities. Martin’s senior executive experience includes heading-up global scientific and regulatory affairs, compliance, food safety, and nutrition organizations at The Hershey Company, Mondelez International, and PepsiCo. He leads global government engagement programs and cross-sector collaboration, including harmonization of standards through Codex, both for industry and in his past roles as Regulator on food and feed at the European Commission in Brussels, and UK Food Standards Agency in London. Martin has a scientific background, with a Ph.D. in microbiology research. Martin is track lead for the IFT Scientific Advisory Panel (AMSPAP) on Public Policy, Food Laws & Regulation. He has a passion for advocating scientific truth, effective communication across sectors on scientific issues, improving transparency, simplicity and consumer trust, and driving environmental sustainability.
